Press Release: About US
New Northern Nevada Dance Club
Carson City to become new home for alliance of West Coast
Swing dancers
Carson
City, NV – A new West Coast Swing dance club has
formed in Carson City. The newly appointed board members
met for the first time on April 10th, 2007 to begin the
initial planning stages of the favorably anticipated
venture. The new club will be recognized as the
“High Sierra Swing Dance Club.”
Jim Ewing was chosen to serve as president of the
nonprofit board.
Ewing, a
professional dance instructor who teaches with his wife
Donna in the Reno area, noticed a large influx of students
traveling from other rural areas; primarily Carson City,
Washoe Valley, Tahoe, Minden, Gardnerville, Dayton, and
other surrounding areas. To offer his students more
convenience, Ewing began teaching weekly dance classes in
Carson City at the Brewery Arts Center, because the
Brewery Arts Center offered a great dance floor at a nice
location with plenty of free parking,
Ewing then decided to sponsor monthly dance events. The
events proved popular, serving as host for many
individuals from the surrounding area who shared an
enthusiasm to learn new dance steps and meet new friends.
It became instinctive that an association should form.
The club
membership will be open to all dancers, including
beginners who want to socialize with new people and have
fun learning. Anyone wishing to become a member of the
High Sierra Swing Dance Club can join for an annual
membership fee of only $25. A couple can join for just
$40. You do not need to be a club member to participate in
the monthly dance events, but membership will offer
benefits to those who decide to join.
Monthly
dances, are planned to
continue to be hosted at the Brewery Arts Center located
at 449 West King Street in Carson City. The first dance was Friday April 27,
2007, and was attended by a large number of local and out of town dancers. Dance admission
for Club members and members
visiting from any of the sister West Coast Swing clubs pay
only $7.00 admission. Admission for non-members is just $10.00 (join the
club and get the member admission). Lessons will be offered to the early
arrivals beginning at 6:30 pm, and no partner is required.
High profiled dance instructors will be hired to come
teach the lessons. The focus is on West Coast Swing, but
other popular dances are taught as well.
