Greetings Club Members
Hello from your new club President!
I hope you will join me in a salute to outgoing President, Sally Rogers for all her hard work and dedication to High Sierra Swing Dance Club. I have some very big shoes to fill, but look forward to the challenge! I am a charter member of High Sierra Swing Dance Club, having served as Membership Director since its inception. My wife, Laura, and I have been dancing for 4 years, have met some wonderful people, and enjoy the company of all the dancers very much.
Last Monday night, the Board elected the new officers for the 2010 year as follows:
President, Ken Briscoe; Vice-President, Jon Yaple; Treasurer, Laura Briscoe; Secretary, Gaylene Miller; Sergeant at Arms, Mitch Tufts; Dance Director, Greg Froberg; Public Relations, Pat Devereux; Membership, Janice Wright; Activities, Rika Rich; Entertainment, Ken Whitford and Past-Presidents, Jim Ewing and Sally Rogers.
The Board has elected to streamline its positions, combining the Webmaster, Hospitality, Contest Coordinator, Editorial and Photographer into Committees under other Directors.
Please support the Directors, they work very hard on all our behalf running the club, taking care of details large and small, and planning exicting events for the Club.
Glenn Trinidad will be teaching a 6 week lesson at the Brewery Arts Center February 17th through March 24th. He will teach beginning West Coast Swing and Argentine Tango. Find out more on Glenn's classes.
If you are looking for something to do on Tuesday night, come down to El Charro Mexican resturant. This is our club night out and is a good way to meet other dancers, practice steps, and have a good time! Dancing is from 6:30-9:00 PM.
We have a very special event coming up on April 24th. It's our 3rd annual Spring Dance at the Carson Nugget. More details will follow. If you have any suggestions that will help the club, you may drop me an email or talk to any of our Board Members at the various events we put on. I value your thoughts and ideas. I will be sending out an email twice monthly to keep you informed of events. Also, our website is a good reference for upcoming events.
Best Regards.
Ken Briscoe, President
